Jak’s Den

We also support children who are struggling with a close bereavement normally through cancer or a related illness.

We have also established strong links with CHAS who can provide further support if required.

Satellite Dens

We are very excited about our plans for a satellite Jak’s Den to be opened in Aberdeen as soon as we can raise enough money and find suitable premises which will support our children young people and families in Aberdeen and the surrounding areas through drop in counselling and various support groups and music and alternative therapies.  We will need to raise about £70,000 in order to fully furnish and kit out this Jak’s Den for a year.

We also have plans to open in Glenrothes in the next couple of years in conjunction with the Warout Stadium initiative and rebuild.

Meantime we will continue to support our families throughout Scotland by providing Music Therapy and Counselling in Aberdeen and Dundee wards as requested, and through Jak’s Sacks, fairy boxes and snacks in Edinburgh and Glasgow and Jaks Sacks and fairy boxes as requested in other wards.

We also plan to provide online support within the next 18 months to families unable to travel to any Jak’s Den facilities to ensure we are supporting every child and young person with cancer in Scotland regardless of geographical position.

Team Jak also provide outreach services for those unable to get to the Den and those still in hospital.

We provide snacks, drinks, vouchers, games, dvds, Jak’s Sacks, Sibling Sacks and anything else requested by the Ward Sister to the Edinburgh Children’s Hospital as and when required.

We also arrange special moments from both within and outwith the Den for any child and family who need a wee “boost”.
